Public domain images

Public domain images are images that are not protected by copyright, either because the copyright has expired, the image is not eligible for copyright protection, or the copyright owner has explicitly released the image into the public domain.

You can use public domain images for any purpose, without needing to obtain permission or pay royalties. However, it’s still a good idea to verify that an image is truly in the public domain before using it, and to check for any restrictions or conditions attached to its use (e.g. some public domain images may require attribution or have limitations on commercial use).

You can find public domain images through a variety of sources, including online repositories like Wikimedia Commons or the Library of Congress, or by using a search engine that allows you to filter results by usage rights (e.g. Google Images). Once you’ve found a public domain image you’d like to use, simply download it and incorporate it into your project as needed.
